Has it been some time since your teeth have been cleaned and your gums checked? Regular visits for gum health is as important as regular visits to your physician for whole body health.
The periodontal apparatus (gums) holding the teeth to the bone must be kept healthy to avoid the potential loss of your teeth. Depending on one’s genetic disposition and habits, this cleaning should occur no less than every six months. You may need cleanings as frequently as every three months. Regular cleanings and checkups to evaluate gum health can also lead to longer lasting dental work, if you have any.
During your teeth cleaning visit, Dr. Smith will personally and professionally clean your teeth himself. He enjoy cleaning and examining your teeth himself, in order to spend more time with you. This way, the exam is not rushed, and potential issues can be diagnosed.
The care given to your teeth and gums at home is also important. We have many suggestions and tools for periodontal health here at Main Street Dental Arts P.C. Dr Smith recommends regular twice per day toothbrushing with a soft toothbrush. Depending on your particular level of gingivitis or periodontitis, a Hydrofloss device can remove more plaque and stimulate the gum tissue for more optimum blood flow and health. https://hydrofloss.com/
Perio Protect Trays, that are delivered by a dentist, can also be used to deliver anti-bacterial hydrogen peroxide to the gums. https://www.perioprotect.com/
